In many communities, widows are left to carry the weight of entire households alone, with little support and even less recognition. Yet Islam calls us to honour and protect them. Allah ﷻ says in the Qur’an: “And they give food, out of love for Him, to the poor, the orphan, and the captive…” — (Surah Al-Insan 76:8) This verse reflects the spirit of caring for those left vulnerable — including widows who struggle silently. From the teachings of the Ahlulbayt (AS), Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib said: “Allah, Allah, concerning the orphans — do not let them starve, and do not let them be lost in your presence.” And Imam Ja’far al-Sadiq taught that caring for the vulnerable is among the most beloved deeds to Allah.
