Sadaqah — Giving from the Heart, for the Pleasure of Allah The word Sadaqah comes from sidq — sincerity and truth. It is a charity given purely for the sake of Allah ﷻ, reflecting the truth of one’s faith. Allah سبحانه وتعالى says in the Qur’an: “The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed which grows seven ears; in every ear is a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies for whom He wills.” — (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:261) Sadaqah is not measured by how much we give, but by the sincerity behind it. From Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (عليه السلام): “The best charity is that which is given from what you need yourself.” — (Nahj al-Balagha) And from Imam Ja'far al-Sadiq (عليه السلام): “Charity given in secret extinguishes the غضب (anger) of Allah.” Sadaqah has no minimum and no restriction — it is open to every believer, at every stage of life. Whether small or large, every act of giving carries immense value in the sight of Allah.
